To run Tweak UI you first have to download it from the Microsoft Website (Power Toys For Windows XP section)

Once you have installed it to run the program access it from the start menu or run it by clicking on the start menu, then click on run and type tweakui.

Once you have opened the program you can make many tweaks once complete make sure you press OK.

With this program you can shuffle the windows you open within Microsoft Windows around and also close down a window using the scroll wheel button, much like what you can do within Firefox.

Here are a few ideas to make Windows XP run faster (note: it may be a good idea backup your data/information before changing anything on your system):

1. Uninstall unneeded programs.

2. Delete unneeded files from your hard disk.

3. Stop programs that you don’t need automatically running on start up.   Click Start > Run and type ‘msconfig’ then click on the startup tab and untick anything you don’t need on startup.  In order to figure out whether you need something on startup simply search for the startup item name in your favourite search engine.  The search results should point to how necessary a certain startup item is.

4. Turn off visual effects: To do this click start > settings > control panel > system and then click on the advanced tab and click the setting button under the performance section on the visual effects tab click the ‘Adjust for best performance’ radio button and then click apply.
